Standing On The Outside Looking in
Social inclusion is important for a person's dignity, security and opportunity to lead a better life. As we approach Social Inclusion week beginning on Nov 19th I wanted to speak with these three awesome women about what inclusion can look like, the effects of having it and not having it and some of the challenges faced along the way.
My first guest is Ainslee Hooper from Ainslee Hooper Consulting. We explore representation of people living with disability in our media and the importance of the inclusion of actors with disabilities.
Ainslee joins me as a regular on Pulse FM in the Making Life Better segment of the show.
Louise Larkin from Friend in Me, an Australian charity that promotes social inclusion and acceptance in children through sensory friendly events, workshops and online programs, also dropped by for a chat. She shares her passion for making sure that all children know what its like to be included in birthday parties and gatherings.
And then we added Nicole Doherty to the mix from Empowered Liveability. We hear her mission to build inclusive, appropriate BRAND-NEW homes for people with complex disabilities to live their best life, the way they choose.
This season I'm sharing interviews with inspirational people about conversations that need to be had and heard. These chats are part of the morning program Loretta's Front Page broadcast on 94.7Pulse FM community radio in Geelong
